Leadership that matters
We were recently visited by the Global Fund for Children; one of our supporters. Our visitor - Solome - submitted a blog on their website (below) where she shared her observations, especially on our leadership style and empowerment model.

Teboho Trust Adults Bead Flag Badges and Vuvuzelas for 2010 World Cup. Make Your Order Today!
The World Cup has brought a lot of attention to South Africa. Moreover, many people are now visiting Soweto and Teboho Trust. Due to the World Cup, our children are on a long school holiday. We wanted to find a project that would not only keep them off the streets, but to teach them new skills and for them to have fun. At the same time, we wanted to assist our parents / guardians / care-givers and Sowetan adults in the community who are mostly unemployed to seize an economic opportunity from this global event. With the support of the City of Johannesburg, Dept. of Community Development; Directorate of Human Development, Patronella has helped us with the master beader to come and train our people. We were also looking to go after large orders and see how best to develop a strategic alliance with the City and the arts & crafts cooperatives they've helped to establish.
Three weeks ago we organised for them to learn how to bead. As a result, they have beaded flags (badges to wear) and vuvuzelas for the World Cup. They beaded the South African Flag for the host City; Johannesburg and their beaded flags were sold at Soccer City. The vuvuzelas have been a big hit! We've just completed an order of 60 for Coca-Cola for the semi finals and finals of the World Cup. We have been requested to do an additional 40 for Coca-Cola. While working on the order, our visitors saw the beaded vuvuzelas and are now placing orders. We certainly want to extend the offer to you and your networks as well in order for our families to become self-reliant and for Teboho Trust to receive a donation from the beading group; Manakanaka Creations (our beading group). Manakanaka Creations is currently in the process of registering themselves as an arts & crafts cooperative.
Please take a look at their work below. For orders and more information, please contact me at: jose@tebohotrust.org.za Your support will help families and our children.
Please help us to help our children, families and community.
